Each member of our staff comes from a diverse background with different passions, but there's one thing they all have in common - compassion. Learn a little about each person who calls Enriched Community Acupuncture Center home:


Shawn Crum - Owner

Shawn Crum is the owner of Enriched Community Acupuncture Center. She holds a Masters in Science of Oriental Medicine and a Bachelors of Science in Nutrition from MCOM (Midwest College of Oriental Medicine), alongside a Bachelors of Arts in Education from Loyola University.


Kholood El-Helo - Practitioner

Kholood El-Helo holds a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine as well as a Master of Science degree in Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine Chicago/San Diego.  She studied at City Colleges of Chicago to become a Registered Nurse 10 years ago and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Northeastern Illinois University. She is a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine certified through the NCCAOM and is licensed by the State of Illinois to practice acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.

 What she enjoys most about being an acupuncturist is the versatility of the medicine and the ability to focus on each patient as an individual. Her philosophy on patient-centered care is to make achieving optimal health a priority. Kholood is committed to helping people make the necessary adjustments to achieve and maintain optimal health. Her specialties are pain management, gastrointestinal concerns, weight loss women’s health, sleep issues and PTSD.

 She belongs to the American Nurses Association and the Illinois Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.

Kelsi Karch - Practitioner

Kelsi Karch has always had a great curiosity and drive to help people. She first became interested in Chinese Medicine while seeking a more fulfilling lifestyle and career. She has a Bachelor of Arts from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma as well as a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine.

Her work in theater has fostered her creativity and acceptance, which has carried over into her treatment style. She uses a variety of modalities unique to each patients’ individual needs including herbal medicine, acupuncture, guasha, cupping and tui na. She strives to make everyone feel welcome and to ensure that they are comfortable and supported while under her care.  Kelsi has experience with a wide variety of issues, including; gastrointestinal disorders, musculoskeletal pain, menstrual difficulties, migraines, insomnia and autoimmune disorders. She approaches each condition with compassion, curiosity and a desire to heal.
